Robert Jenrick did not come to his conclusions on immigration through ideology. Asked to be Immigration Minister he approached it cautiously. He formed his view that we needed to be a lot tougher from his day by day experiences.
Yesterday in the Common we were promised 300,000 fewer migrants in the year to spring 2024. I would prefer it if the government speeded up its changes to bring them in by the end of this year.
Last week, the Government delivered its Autumn Statement, rewarding hard work by cutting and simplifying taxes, and undertaking significant investment to bolster growth.
The Autumn Statement takes long-term decisions to reduce debt, cut taxes, reward hard work, and back businesses.
