Pauline Helliar-Symons represents Wokingham Without on Wokingham Borough Council.
Pauline graduated from Swansea University with a B.A (Hons) and M.A. in History, then taught history, with 17 years as Deputy Head of a local comprehensive school, before becoming an assessor for the Investors in People award, which is awarded to organisations that have high quality business, management and people practices.
On the Council, Pauline has been Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Housing, Executive Member for Children’s Services, and Borough Mayor.
She has also served as Vice Chairman of the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority, and a trustee of the Oakwood Young People’s Outdoor Pursuits and Climbing centre.
Her priorities have included road safety, the environment including increasing recycling and maintaining a weekly rubbish collection, putting in more cycle routes and new roads to ease congestion, opposing unsuitable housing, ensuring that older and vulnerable people receive the help they need, and that the Council budget will be well managed and continues to be healthy.
