UllaKarin first came to Wokingham in 1984 with her Wokingham born husband. They have 3 children, all of whom were educated locally.
UllaKarin was twice Mayor of Wokingham Town and twice Mayor of Wokingham Borough. Her last Executive role was as lead member for Childrens Services with a portfolio consisting of amongs others, Education and Children in care. She believes firmly in the importance of giving fair and equal life chances to all children in the Borough. The Council should always play a crucial role in promoting the wellbeing of all children. An empowered child has the necessary skills that helps them thrive in this world.
She is presently the Chairman of the Stroke Association's local group, set up to support stroke survivors.
Ulla Karin has lived and worked in Sweden, the former Yugoslavia and the US as a Solicitor/Advokat/European Lawyer . After 2,5 years in various District Courts, she was approved as a member of the Swedish Bar Association. She is also a qualified Montessori Teacher.
Her spare time interests are reading and gardening.
