Cllr Bob Wyatt and Cllr Julian McGhee-Sumner have been working with local planning officers to ensure that if major development takes places locally, there are substantial contributions made to the local infrastructure. A Master Plan has been produced for the first part of the South Wokingham Strategic Development Location (SDL) which will consist of some 650 new homes and substantial infrastructure to ensure existing services are not stretched. This will include:
- · A southern distributor road which will cross over the railway line when the next phase is built
- · A two-form entry primary school with playing pitches
- · A neighbourhood centre and community facilities and extensive play and leisure areas
- · Half the site will be green community space and there will be a gap between the new houses and Clay Lane of from 45 to 60m
A planning application will be submitted in the summer; if passed the first houses (270) should be built in 2013.
