We call on the ICG and Wokingham Borough Council to work together to provide Arborfield with the permanent GP it desperately needs. Arborfield and Barkham have seen significant housing development over the last decade. Over 2,000 houses have been built in Arborfield and Wokingham Borough Council have plans to build at least 2,300 more in Barkham Square, Finchwood Park, and other nearby sites. The sharp increase in housing in Arborfield has caused the demand for key local services such as GP’s to skyrocket. Despite the vast development, the residents of Arborfield have no nearby GP services available. This forces residents to face long journeys by car or on the limited public transport available in order to access GP services, in turn putting even further strain on the GP’s in surrounding communities.
